I’m sure we’re all growing tired of discussing our latest injury setback, but it has been downright unavoidable so far this preseason. Our long term injury list has been extended by one after the weekend, with Andrew Krakouer – on the back of much talked about personal issues – succumbing to a knee injury during…

Getting Behind The Caff
It has been a frustrating month for a handful of Collingwood players and the entirety of the Magpie faithful. Just a week or two away from seeing our team take the field again, after the sort of restless wait that only comes on the back of a Grand Final defeat, it seemed our boys were…
The Fringe and First Impressions
Having notched up two wins in our round robin against the Bulldogs and Giants, it’s time to take a look at the players we as fans were most excited to see on Saturday night. I speak of course of our latest batch of recruits, along with those who have been pressing on the fringe. Saturday…
NAB Cup Review: Collingwood Vs. GWS Giants
Having accounted for the Bulldogs, we finished up the night by facing off against an exuberant GWS outfit that was missing most of its senior imports. The Giants had almost toppled the Bulldogs in the first game and perhaps should have, considering the Bulldogs benefited from a pedantic time wasting free kick that resulted in a certain goal.
NAB Cup Review: Collingwood Vs. Western Bulldogs
After a long off-season for supporters, the NAB Cup kicked off this weekend with our beloved Magpies fronting up against the Western Bulldogs and the latest addition to our league, the Greater Western Sydney Giants. The first round of the NAB Cup followed the same format as last year, with a lightning round robin comprising of 20 minute halves and a set of novelty rules.
Operation: Depth Recharge
Having just returned from a weekend in Canberra, the bad news seems to have piled up in my Collingwood inbox over the weekend. On top of Alan Didak with an adductor injury, the likes of Ben Johnson (hamstring) and Andrew Krakouer (personal leave) were added to the sidelines. There was also word that new recruit…
Didak Down
The preseason has claimed its first victim, as far as Collingwood is concerned, with the mercurial Alan Didak injuries his adductor muscle during Monday’s training session. This is unfortunate news for those of us who were relying on a fit and firing Didak to rekindle his best form and maybe, as a result, play a…
Pies On The Horizon
The sun may be setting on the NSW scholarship scheme, with clubs no longer able to sign up any new youngsters under the system, but thankfully Derek Hine managed to get a few lads north of the Murray to put pen to paper, locking them in when the announcement of the eventual end was made. We may not be able to sign up any new prospects under the scheme, but we can honour any contracts that were already in place.
