Heading into last night’s match, I think most of us had prepared ourselves for a defeat as the Hawks have looked in better nick during the preseason and on paper, looked to have a stronger team. With this in mind, I don’t think too many Magpie fans would have been shocked at the final siren, but some disappointment would have been felt all the same given we had edged in front during the early stages of the last quarter.

[Round 1 Preview] Collingwood Vs. Hawthorn
It’s been something of a hectic week, so I haven’t been able to quite find the time to put together a more comprehensive preview for our opening match of the season. Time is of the essence, as we are just hours from the opening bounce, so without further ado let’s get the teams out of…
Craig’s Boy Has Got Some Poise
James Stewart is a name you’re going to be hearing a bit about this year, regardless of how he performs during the TAC Cup and U18 Championships. The son of former Collingwood player Craig Stewart and eligible as a father/son selection during this year’s draft, Magpie fans will be debating his worth as the season…
Sharrod Drops The Ball
In the midst of concerns over the availability of a host of senior players, Sharrod Wellingham has been suspended for two senior games less than a fortnight from the kick-off of our 2012 season. It was poor timing on Sharrod’s part, who many were hoping would be amongst our senior players available for selection against…
NAB Cup Review: Collingwood Vs. St Kilda
Full match review from our NAB Cup practise match against St Kilda yesterday at Visy Park. A much improved showing from our boys, resulting in a 33 point win in wet conditions.
Draft Dredging 2009-2011
At the final siren in the Grand Final Replay of 2010, the faithful flocked to the fences in order to embrace and thank our heroes. It’s safe to say that had Derek Hine been doing the rounds on the boundary, those same fans would have been equally as enthusiastic in their appreciation. For good reason,…
Almost Instant Perspective
Like a lot of Collingwood fans, I wasn’t too impressed with the second half against Adelaide and the overall scrappy affair against Melbourne. Fair enough too, as they weren’t the easiest of games to watch and we have grown accustomed to a much higher level of performance. If you follow the message boards however, you…
NAB Cup Review: Collingwood Vs. Adelaide
t was Adelaide by plenty after our boys put in a competitive first half that was followed by a pedestrian showing in the second, so with that in mind let’s just jump into the wash-up without spending time on the numbers.
NAB Cup Review: Collingwood Vs. Melbourne
After a scrappy round robin affair a fortnight ago, it was good to see a slightly more traditional format in last night’s round two clash against Melbourne. Over the space of four quarters, with the option of substituting up to seven players at half-time – we had an opportunity to get a longer look at our youngsters and those on the cusp hoping to stake a claim in the senior side.
