We returned to Victoria Park this week for our clash against Sandringham. After the team was stripped down to bare essentials against Box Hill, the likes of Ceglar, Stubbs, Marley Williams, Paine, Yagmoor and Hartley all took the field once more. Corey Gault was absent this week, most likely enjoying a rest after taking part in every one of our VFL games so far.

[Round 5 Review] Collingwood Vs. Essendon (ANZAC Day)
In what was a riveting affair, our Magpies held off a resilient Essendon to win our third ANZAC Day clash in a row. We were clearly the better team for the majority of the match, but despite holding a two goal buffer for most of the day, we just couldn’t land that killer blow. There were plenty of opportunities to do so, but we continued to give Essendon a sniff and they nearly stole the four points once again.
[Round 5 Preview] Collingwood Vs. Essendon (ANZAC Day)
As ANZAC Day falls on the Wednesday this year, the fixture has conspired to test both Collingwood and Essendon when it comes to player management. Both teams played on the Saturday, allowing a four day turnaround before having to front up in what is traditionally one of the more hotly contested home-and-away games each year.
[Round 4 Review] Collingwood Vs. Port Adelaide
Greetings people and my apologies for what is quite a late review of our second victory for the year against Port Adelaide. It took my a little while to watch the replay of the game and then a little longer to get down to writing. Things are a little rushed at the minute, as I…
[VFL Round 5 Player Review] Collingwood Vs. Box Hill
After notching up our first win for the season last week against the Northern Blues, the VFL Pies unfortunately couldn’t continue their winning ways. Starting the game extremely well and taking a lead into the first quarter, it was all Box Hill from then on as Collingwood fell to a convincing defeat.
Plenty of senior and rookie listed names were missing this week given our injuries and need to manage players ahead of ANZAC Day. The likes of Marley Williams, Ceglar, Ugle and Stubbs were all missing, but Jamie Elliott and Lachlan Smith took the field for their first games.
[VFL Round 5 Match Report] Collingwood Vs. Box Hill
Having opened our account last week against the Blues, our chances of stringing two wins together were seriously hindered – if not made impossible – due to our extended injury list and need to rest players ahead of our clash with Essendon on ANZAC Day. The losses we suffered to the senior team meant that our VFL side was pilfered for most of its remaining talent and experience, leaving a smaller contingent of Collingwood listed players available.
Amidst The Gloom, Some Good News
It has been a tough week for our club and us as fans, we’ve been bereft of good news stories and the rumour mongering has kicked into full gear. When we had healed from Friday night’s catastrophe and turned our attention to Port Adelaide, we were thrown another curveball as Shaw and Thomas were sidelined…
[Round 4 Preview] Collingwood Vs. Port Adelaide
In what has probably been the hardest week for the selectors so far, Collingwood have swung the changes and brought in five players for our clash against Port Adelaide. Ben Reid, Luke Ball, Dale Thomas and Heath Shaw are all missing due to injury, with Cameron Wood being omitted. To replace these names, we have elected to go with Ben Johnson, Paul Seedsman, Tom Young, Simon Buckley and Jackson Paine.
The Magnet Board: Round 4
This week’s magnet board poses some challenges, largely because of our most recent injuries to key players in Ben Reid and Luke Ball, along with the short turnaround ahead of the ANZAC Day clash with Essendon. Getting the obvious out of the way first, we need to find replacements for the irreplaceable Reid and Ball…
Weighing In On The Four Corners Of The Ring
I don’t know if you could say that the dust is settling on the media frenzy surrounding Friday night’s result and the subsequent back-and-forth between Malthouse and McGuire, but Nathan Buckley has certainly succeeded in calming the waters for the time being after his press conference yesterday. The intensity of the fourth estate’s response to…
