Well, it has been nearly a year since my last small hiatus, but the time has come once more for the lovely lass and myself to get away for a much needed break. I’ll be interstate and internet-less for the next week, so unfortunately won’t be doing the review for Saturday’s clash. Previews for our…

[Round 9 Preview] Collingwood Vs Adelaide
A few times this year I’ve made it a point to emphasise how important an upcoming game is. The Carlton clash for obvious rivalry reasons; the Essendon game considering how our season was poised at the time; then of course last Friday was another eight point game, along with the opportunity to further derail the…
Kudos For Kritter
Our VFL squad is very much a large focus for this blog, in fact it’s fair to say that the major motivating factor for this site’s creation was wanting to provide comprehensive week-by-week coverage of our VFL team and the performances of our youngsters and fringe dwellers. In doing so, my focus is almost exclusively…
[Round 8 Review] Collingwood Vs. Geelong
Heading into this game, there was no question as to how important the result would be for the remainder of our season. We were presented with an opportunity to further stabilise our position, whilst throwing another spanner in the works for Geelong as they attempt to construct their own.
[VFL Round 9 Player Review] Collingwood Vs. Bendigo
After recording a memorable victory against the ladder leaders Port Melbourne last week, ending a 28 game winning streak for the Borough, our VFL Pies couldn’t keep the momentum going this week, eventually falling to a 32 point defeat at the hands of Bendigo. We remained within striking distance for most of the game despite Bendigo looking the better team, but ran out of steam in the last quarter after being within a kick at the final stage.
Some Rookies Be Rolling
As drafting has become more of a science and less of a lottery, the reasonable expectation with early picks – especially anything within the top ten – is that you select a 200 gamer at a bare minimum. Clubs have become better at both identifying and developing talent, so in order to construct a champion team, you really need to find some diamonds in the rough. Enter the rookie list…
[Round 8 Preview] Collingwood Vs. Geelong
After a testing period on the back of the Carlton result, we’ve been tracking quite nicely over the last month and have strung together a 4 game winning streak in the process. Friday night shapes as an epic encounter as we take on the Cats in a replay of last year’s Grand Final. The Cats…
[Round 7 Review] Collingwood Vs. Brisbane
Heading into this game I expected a closer contest that what ensued, leaving me to think that I probably overrated the Lions a bit, whilst also underrating our boys. In fairness, we’ve been grinding out our wins so far and being on their home turf, I expected a better showing from the Lions after last week’s dismal performance against Essendon.
[VFL Round 8 Player Review] Collingwood Vs. Port Melbourne
In what was our best win for the year and perhaps the last two years, our VFL Pies put in a sustained effort over four quarters to topple the all-conquering Port Melbourne at Victoria Park. There were plenty of good signs from several listed players, who combined with their top-up counterparts to put together a fantastic performance that had the Magpie faithful overjoyed, if not a little amazed.
[Round 7 Preview] Collingwood Vs. Brisbane
This week our team travels interstate for the first time this year, heading north to take on the Lions on their home turf at the Gabba. Brisbane got off to a good start this year, toppling the Demons at the MCG in round one, but have been battling ever since. Regardless of their current standing, I suspect that this Saturday night will be another tight contest, hopefully resulting in another much needed win.
