At last football has returned in its most serious and worthwhile guise, the premiership season. Later today we’ll kick off our 2013 campaign as we take on the Kangaroos at Etihad, a chance for us to redeem ourselves after letting the ‘Roos get the better of of us last year. Because of that, I’m glad…
Month: March 2013
Preview: Collingwood vs. North Melbourne (Round 1, 2013)
Congratulations Magpie fans, you’ve survived another preseason. Your reward you ask? The return of the real stuff this Easter Sunday as we take on the Kangaroos at Etihad. Our preseason form was a mixed bag, but when the ball is bounced Sunday afternoon there will be no excuses for those who take the field. A…
Behold, A Pale Presti
The preseason is coming to a close, the time for preparation nearly over. It is this very time that is ripe for prophecy, as supporters take stock of early promise from new faces, whether a youthful draftee or a now black and white garbed former foe. Now is the time for bandwagons, now is the…
Early Skirmishes: The Preseason Review
As the home and away season kicks into gear this Friday night, Collingwood’s preseason is finishing up, with one last hit out remaining for our VFL squad this coming Friday afternoon at Visy Park. The NAB Cup competition is a difficult one to gauge, as every team enters the preseason with different objectives, at different…
Game Day: Practice Match Vs. Geelong
Afternoon everyone and my apologies for getting this Game Day section up and running at the eleventh hour. I did intend on putting together a bit of a preview, but couldn’t find the time to put together something worthy of your attention, so I’ll just say that it’s extremely good to see a strong outfit…

Before the game, the likes of Shaw and O’Brien were added to the absent list, replaced with Mooney and Williams. Yagmoor played earlier in the day amongst our VFL outfit, with Adam Oxley given another chance to strut his stuff.
Game Day: NAB Cup Round 3 Vs. Brisbane
Here we are people, still undefeated as we enter the third round of the NAB Cup. Looking at both teams, the absence of several prime movers within our squad might lead some to believe the Lions are a good thing – but I harboured the same thoughts last week and was pleasantly surprised. Even with…
NAB Cup Round 3 Preview: Collingwood vs. Brisbane
After an impressive performance on the road, the Pies return to Etihad Stadium for the third round of the NAB Cup, set to face the Brisbane Lions. The teams were announced yesterday and the rotation policy has continued at Collingwood, with Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury rested from the team this week.
Review: NAB Cup Round 2 Vs. West Coast
This week’s review was a little delayed, owing to a week of long hours at work and having to rely on the AFL website in order to watch the replay of our game. It took until yesterday before the second half became available to view online, but having completed the four quarters I can say…
Game Day: NAB Cup Round 2 Vs. West Coast
Good afternoon my Collingwood brethren and welcome to your game day thread for this evening’s clash with the Eagles out west. Last fortnight’s game day thread for our round robin clashes with the Bombers and Bulldogs proved something of a hit if the statistics are to be believed, so it makes sense that this should…
