Our loss to Essendon reinforced the reality check that the Hawks handed out to us three weeks ago, reminding the team that the situation was real and worse yet, now other teams are beginning to pick apart the chinks in our armour. Our percentage is terrible, our position within the top eight is vulnerable and we’ve just lost our best small to medium defender.

Some Hard Truths, Some Perspective, Some Light…
If the Hawthorn game left us flat, then the result on ANZAC Day was like having the wind knocked out of us before we even replenished our lungs. The start of this year has provided some inspirational moments and reason for optimism, but it has also given us equal doses of concern. Our loss to…
Game Day: Collingwood vs. Essendon (ANZAC Day, 2013)
First up, let me apologise for not fleshing out a preview ahead of this game, but with the short turnaround I just couldn’t find the time to get something up sooner. In lieu of that preview however, the readership have carried the torch and covered many important points within the comments section over the past…
Review: Collingwood vs. Richmond (Round 4, 2013)
After our last quarter effort against Hawthorn last week, no other tonic but a solid win this week was going to soothe the disappointment. Everything appeared to be stacked against us: the Tigers were undefeated and their fans were up and about; we were still missing some key players and Cloke had just dislocated his…
Game Day: Collingwood vs. Richmond (Round 4, 2013)
The first bounce is drawing closer and I’m running short on time, so I won’t waste too much of yours before opening this game day thread. Here’s hoping we see a committed effort over four quarters, with the Pies walking away with the four points in the end. Have at it my Birds of a…
Preview: Collingwood vs. Richmond (Round 4, 2013)
After falling away quite terribly last week, we now have to bounce back in an attempt to subdue the increasing hype from Tiger Land. After making slow progress under Hardwick the last couple of years, the Tigers appear to have earmarked this year as the one where they make a statement. They’ve started the year…
Review: Collingwood vs. Hawthorn (Round 3, 2013)
After enjoying a very promising start to the year, we hit our first hurdle for season 2013 on the weekend, rolled once more by the Hawks. The final quarter was difficult to sit through, but I felt that the final margin wasn’t at all indicative of the entire contest.
Game Day: Collingwood vs. Hawthorn (Round 3, 2013)
After the memorable win of last week, we are now faced with the formidable task of toppling the Hawks at the MCG this afternoon. Despite entering the season with a considerable injury list, we’ve managed to weather the storm exceptionally to remain undefeated. Today we’ll welcome back the likes of Alex Fasolo and Dale Thomas,…
Preview: Collingwood vs. Hawthorn (Round 3, 2013)
The preview has come a little later this week – for that I apologise – but it has at the very least given me the opportunity to see the first cut of the team sheet. Most expected that we would be without Jolly this week, but losing Maxwell for two months came as a shock. …
Review: Collingwood vs. Carlton (Round 2, 2013)
If there is an element of perversity to the pleasure a Collingwood supporter feels when beating Carlton, then it is a perversion that we should embrace proudly. Going through 2012 without the satisfaction of vanquishing that morally bankrupt and contemptible club felt every bit like a drought, but just as they broke unexpectedly over the…
