In any given year, when a team makes the jump from struggling to competitive, or competitive to contending, it is quite often on the back of established talent performing at the expected level whilst being bolstered by emerging quality. And often, a team is driven to that next level by unexpected improvement from one or more individuals, in some cases an unforeseen coming of age.
Musing on the Middle
After recently discussing the potential of our back half and as we continue to count the days until the national draft, I thought I might now turn my attention to the midfield. Whilst our list is not yet complete for 2015 – with at least six new names to be added across the senior and rookie list – I think we can at this point safely discuss the most likely composition of the all important engine room.

In previous years, with the club making some hard decisions at the trade table with a view to investing in the top end of the draft, there has been a heightened element of excitement and anxiety ahead of the national draft. Top ten selections are coveted, but come with great expectations and given the cost – be it departing quality or poor recent results – the fear of failing to nail such selections is ever present.
