Heading into Friday night’s game, the heat was all on Hardwick and Richmond, which suggested the possibility that the Tigers – as woeful as they were the week before and for much of this year – might want to prove a point before their year wound up. The Final Month
An honourable loss to Adelaide rolled into misplaced and ultimately futile aggression against North Melbourne, resulting in the confirmation of our absence from September once more. With this in mind, we can take some satisfaction out of the fact that with finals out of the equation, the team still demonstrated a significant amount of pride – enough to compensate for a lack of polish – in getting the better of the finals bound Eagles at the MCG on Saturday.
